Let's Craft for Ukraine This March
Like many eastern European descendants in Canada, my husband's family are all from Ukraine.
This crisis has been heartbreaking to watch from afar and is really hitting home for all of us but it's so hard to know how to help from here in Canada...
A few weeks ago I saw a quote from the late Mr. Rogers (he had a pretty insightful mamma!)
If you're like me and you want to help somehow, let's make this month about crafting in support for Ukraine.
So to help, we've decided to dedicate 10% of our March proceeds this month to UNICEF's children's aid in Ukraine.
Here's a clip from their website...
"Escalating conflict in Ukraine poses an immediate and growing threat to the lives and well-being of the country’s 7.5 million children. Humanitarian needs are multiplying – and spreading by the hour. Children have been killed. Children have been wounded. They are being profoundly traumatized by the violence all around them. Hundreds of thousands of people are on the move, and family members are becoming separated from their loved ones.
We must protect all children in Ukraine. Now. They need peace.
The past eight years of conflict in eastern Ukraine have inflicted profound and lasting damage to children on both sides of the line of contact. Now, the suffering extends across the country. Hundreds of thousands are without safe water or electricity due to damage to infrastructure. UNICEF is working to scale up humanitarian delivery in the east and expanding across the country as needed.
If you're interested in supporting, here's a few crafts that we think you might want to do this month for your craft-for-a-cause project...
Or the sunflower is the symbol of solidarity and national flower in Ukraine...
